Fashion Illustration

1. Show inspiration/research

2. Identify what the task is and how you will go about doing it?

We have to use one of our own fashion images and experiment with displacement maps, learn how to create backgrounds, how to make certain effects work with our image/idea, to use different gradients, to use blending modes and layer masks.

3. Come up with ideas_document thought processes

I found a fashion image that I’ve photographed last year. The way the model was dressed always looked to me like a reporter from the olden days. I used this image and decided to make it look like a vintage newspaper reporter.

4. Give reasons for your choices made

While I was working through the tutorial that was given to us, I started to change things how I wanted them so that it would work with my theme. I also didn’t use the given displacement maps, I used my own textured images that I de-saturated. I gave the image a brown tint to give it a more vintage feel.

    5. Discuss composition/colour/rhythm/texture/shape/surprises
        and considerations.

For my composition I wanted my subject to be in more than half the image because the focus is on my subject and the background is there to make my idea stronger. I used a brown colour layer which I blended with the image to give it an old vintage feel to the image. I found a newspaper brush which I used over the image but I turned down the opacity. I also used splatters to make it look like someone spilled some coffee over the image.

7 Deadly Sins - Insanity

Some of my previous posts I blogged about my idea for our CRIT (05/05/2011) and how I'm going to accomplish my idea. We had to have a background, subject and our first sin which I chose Envy.

Flora Photography:

Here I taken an image of an Drosanthemum Hispidum flower. This flower is a very small magenta flower. When I changed the colour of the flower to Black & White it gave the flower another meaning, and I'm sure everyone will feel something different about this image.

Close-Up Photography:

When it comes to my second specialist, I like taking images of random objects you see everyday and you don't realize how beautiful it is until you go very close and see all the detail of the object. I took the first image of a green wired garden chair. I like the pattern the wire made and the back lighting against the wall behind the chair. My second image I took at a jewellery shop in Howick. They had a little basket full of shells that they changed into pendants. What really attract me to take this image was the colour of the shells.

General:

We had to do a Chocolate Advertising on location. I think the most challenging thing was to find a 'good looking' chocolate to photograph. After much thought I decided to work with Ferrero Rocher.

We also had to do a Food assignment. We were teamed up with the Food and Nutrition department and did a collaboration.
